Personal Ophthalmic Diagnostic System is designed for self-monitoring of visual functions either in the comfort of your own home or inside a kiosk based at pharmacies or health centres. The device incorporates an innovative Tele Eye Screening Tool (iTEST) that can detect very early deterioration of visual functions and is delivered via the internet or mobile network.

Virtual reality technology has evolved in recent years whereby it can very closely replicate real life experiences. PODS uses a spectacle-based platform similar to virtual reality glasses used for watching DVDs or playing video games. The visual function tests are designed using windows-based software and are projected onto the LCD screens inside the device. The instructions are transmitted through the headphones and the responses are recorded via a microphone using specially written voice-recognition software to interpret the results. In addition the results are automatically compared with previously recorded results & changes reported using Internet or mobile network
